Snow Day

Yesterday we had a real snow 'storm' come through, it was beautiful to wake up to, and beautiful to watch all day long. My husband, Jeremy, came home early from work to beat the bad roads. During his day here, we got to play with Evee together, do P90X Yoga, enjoy our lunch and tea together, and get 3 extra episodes of Once Upon a Time in-we are obsessed!

It's so good when we get those respites from the normal daily grind. I got to take a shower-as long as I wanted, and shave my legs*- I got extra time to write my daily verses in my journal. Jeremy got to see his daughter experience snow while it was coming down, and see her miss him when she would go down for naps. Everything sort of stops when you have a snow day because there are no reasons to be anywhere but at home. It's even different from the weekend.

God is so good to give us those restful times. I found this verse that Jesus says to his disciples about His Holy Spirit separating us from everyone else, how we live and know Him.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27, ESV)

I can rest in Jesus, and find joy in all sorts of days, but am thankful for the fun and restful ones too! oh, looks like baby just woke up... bye for now!

I have a sewing machine again!! :)

I am so happy, I have a brother back in my possession. Over Mother's Day weekend, my wonderful, amazing mother traded out the old one I was bequeathed, for her new one. She is so thoughtful and kind, she knows how much I love to sew, and how poor I am! So, now I have something to continue sewing ....

I wanted to touch on a couple of things in this blog post. First, my mom is awesome, as stated before!

Second, with the gracious gift of my mother, I am now able to sew. And I have discovered a super cute chica who is self-proclaimed poor lady herself, who loves to refashion clothing, she has a group called refashion nation and is a seamstress. Also, please check out her blog, and get some grand ideas.

One of my favorite items to sew are skirts, so this skirt is amazing! :)

Adorable right? let me know what you think...

christmas pictures...

It's been such a long time since I have written for this blog. A lot of the time it's because I am not interested in posting my thoughts. Altho, recently I added a twitter account to my social media, so if im posting stuff there, im sure i can post here. if you are interested visit here.

Anyways, i wanted talk about my recent endeavor of purchasing a new camera. Right now, i got my sights set on D7000 and am looking more into D90 that a couple of friends have. I am more interested in the d7000, but who knows. So how am i raising money to support the upgrade of the next level (or 2) up from my existing camera? Why of course! I am offering Christmas pictures to friends and family. Fun stuff. I think the most challenging part right now, is knowing that I am not close to being able to pay for this expensive camera... But, one step at a time, right? My goal is to have my new camera, and a 50mm 1.4 (or 1.8) lens for it by March. Why? because, i want to be able to shoot as second for bud of mine, should he call.

Keith, (this bud of mine) has been teaching me about photography since March, and actually lets me shoot weddings with him. Crazy idea, right? So, a year from that date, i would like to start actually being an asset to him in that arena. And, in doing so, being an asset for my own money making, for my family, so me and jeremy can continue to pay off debt to get to THE MISSION FIELD. where ever God may call us to.

so, all this rambling, and i just want to leave you with my new picture site. Let me know what you think! one of the ways that i have continued to grow, is by having people critique me. (it sucks but is sooo necessary).  And, should you be interested, don't hesitate to contact me if you want affordable pictures of your family or friends, or whatever :)

i'm thankful for my family

I know it's not Thanksgiving,  but there's never a time like the present to talk about how thankful you are... and especially for your family. By the way, I have a great one. For Christmas, jeremy and i got to visit in st louis and stay with my folks. I also got to see some beloved friends, Rachel, Audrey, and Julie-dearest. I was very thankful for that time, and was so encouraged by those beautiful ladies... But, back to my family... here are some pics i got to take. I am blessed to say, that they each have had big roles in me learning about Christ and becoming a Christian.  I can say with praise to God, that my parents and my brothers have a strong faith in the Lord, and I have seen them grow in many ways in their faith. wow. it's just awesome to see it!

Ah! so funny, Adam made a fort for 'Quelf' game.

new crafts, home decor ;)

I made some new crafts!! Decorative coasters :) I would like to work on some table runners as well as throw pillows. It should be fun!

The coasters are made out of scrap material from a batch of home decorating upholstery my brother donated to Prayergrove. The colors are fun and the prints trendy.

That is it for now! I added some pictures of Jeremy's (my hubby) 25th bday! I am so impressed, I made improv icing from sesame paste added
to the vanilla icing. We enjoyed fun-fetti cake, yum! You can see Jeremy working on
his "Warhammer 40K" models while I took this picture...hence, the cake with an ax :)

What special thing have you done this week for a loved one? It matters! :)

Snow Day in Columbia

It's snow day in Columbia. Most major and small business' have closed due to the blizzard that is dumping up to 29 inches in our area, and across Missouri. It's exciting! Jeremy and I are spending this time to work on our house, our taxes and of course our crafts.

I finished a couple of projects today. Jeremy helped me paint eyes on the white buttons I used as eye balls for the owl scarf I made. He also helped me model my new messenger bag. I'm going to take both to Maude V to sell.

But Today, I wanted to show you the products!

I made this bag out of a pair of pants!
